□ Name: Lucia, The Black Mage

□ Series: Final Fantasy I

□ Canon point: After meeting Bahamut and becoming a Black Wizard

□ History:

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy

Prior to becoming one of the chosen Warriors of Light, Lucia was born into a family of White Mages. Both her mother and father were renowned healers and incredible users of the White Magic craft. In their tiny village, they were considered both as shamans and healers. It was thought, at first, that Lucia would follow in their footsteps. She didn't.

One day, a Black Mage was travelling through her town with his party. They were in search of advice and were, apparently, old friends of her parents. Normally, shy Lucia wouldn't pay them any mind, preferring to read her books and trying to perfect her technique at making potions and other herbal remedies. However, sometime during their visit, at her parents' urging, Lucia was asked to go with them to the next village over for more supplies. Reluctantly, Lucia went with them and tried to use what little white magic skills she had to use. The party had included a Black Mage, Warrior, Monk and Thief prior to Lucia's addition.

In short, it was  party that was better made for offense than it was for defense. The Warrior had some White Mage blood but he preferred his sword to casting. The Monk and thief played games in battle and made bets on who did the most damage or the most kills. The Black Mage? He captivated Lucia's attention the most. She watched him cast spell after offensive spell: thunder, ice and fire. It was the fire spell that mesmerized Lucia the most and once they reached their destination, Lucia demanded he teach her the Black Magic arts.

Afterwards, Lucia eventually did become a Black Mage in her own right. She found it was her calling and she loved it. She loved casting spells for both her own and others entertainment but also to use them in battle to help defend others. She still occasionally worked herbal remedies but eventually she stopped using White Magic in general. She started travelling when it became apparent to her that she wasn't able to expand more on her knowledge of the Black Arts. She already swallowed up every bit of knowledge there was in her village but she still wanted to learn more.

In her travels, she eventually found the people who would later join her in that destined journey of becoming the Warriors of Light. Her relationship with them was mostly familial. She took on a mothering role in the group, always taking care of the others and watching their backs. She also made sure to be in charge of what needed to be done in each town they visited. If she had a crush on the man called the Warrior? Well, she is only human but she mostly resigned to never ever telling him her feelings when she could barely talk about her own feelings to anyone.

Every time she tried, her tongue froze and it later became obvious that it seemed the Warrior was more taken back by the Princess Cornelia (at least to her) and so she honestly tried to forget it. However, she most certainly does respect him to the point she'll follow him to the ends of the world because he is her leader and is definitely one of the strongest person she knows.

The other two of her party were a Red Mage who she viewed as an older sister and respected for her use of balancing both White and Black Magic arts. (And able to still wield a sword!) The White Mage in their little band of heroes was someone Lucia often found herself at odds with because how not like a normal White Mage he was. He was obnoxious, smoked and at times was too lazy to do anything. Lucia eventually started to hassle him into doing anything, especially healing anyone injured that they met. It was through that relationship with the White Mage that she started to grow a real backbone and became even more steadfast and stubborn.

The actual details of their journey through Final Fantasy I is explained in the link offered.

□ Personality:

As one of the four silent protagonists of Final Fantasy I, there's really nothing known much about her. In fact, it's hard to even tell what gender the Warriors of Light truly are. Certain job classes do have a more masculine appearance to them (The Warrior/Knight class, for one) but all you see of the Black Mage is the blue cloak that covers him or her entirely and the wide brim hat that only allows their yellow eyes to be seen.

Still, the Black Mage is one of the Heroes of the game. In my version of the Black Mage, I chose to make that character a female named Lucia.

Lucia is a twenty-three year old girl who is best described as naive and intelligent. She's more book-smart than she is street-smart. Most social cues go over her head, making her feel awkward in conversations--to the point she rather keep to herself and not say anything unless she feels there is a big need to. However, when she does talk, she's sometimes rambles and, even at times, goes off topic. It's because she can't stop thinking and her mouth just spews all that into the conversation.  Give her a puzzle and she'll most likely solve it in no time at all.

She's also a very unsure individual, at least toward strangers and new things. She hesitates a bit too often in normal life, often questioning herself and her decisions. She is also prone to asking "Why" multiple times to achieve a better understanding of things.

In battle? She's the first one to start spamming spell after spell because well, she is a black mage. Magic is her thing. It's her specialty and she loves it. However, for all her love for her craft, she doesn't feel confident in using her spells unless she practices them over and over again. For example, the strongest spell in the game is Flare--a spell she just recently learned before arriving in Ariel--is the one spell she is fixated the most of She wants to cast it almost all the time so that she can eventually master it.

However, once she grows familiar with people, Lucia does become a bit more brazen. She might become more vocal in conversations, and will definitely make her opinion known and not just when things irritate her. She can show how stubborn she is when things aren't going her way but most of all, she is a loyal friend who would sacrifice anything to be of assistance to others. She certainly won't back down easily when she has a cause that she feels is worth fighting for.

It should be noted that most sexual innuendo does go over her head. She doesn't even understand the concept of flirting. She doesn't see herself as attractive either given that she thinks the Red Mage is a definitely more beautiful woman than her.

□ Age:
23

□ Gender: Female

□ Appearance:

My personal PB for Lucia is Yui Koike (http://asianwiki.com/images/a/a4/Yui_Koike-p1.jpg).

Lucia appears as a woman with something akin to Asian ethnicity to her. Her eyes are actually a bright gold (a side-effect of learning the Black Magic). She's of short stature, reaching a height of five feet. Her body shape is lithe but she's not that muscular. If anything, she's toned from all the walking she had done in her journey and little else.

Her wardrobe is comprised of her Black Mage Robes, large robes that seemingly swallow her whole and gives her a definite more androgynous look. It would be really easy to mistake her for a boy until she opens her mouth. Capping her outfit is a very wide-brimmed yellow pointed hat that she is never without. Ever.

□ Abilities/Powers:

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Black_Mage_(Final_Fantasy)

Like all Black Mages and Black Wizards, Lucia is able to harness every Black Magic Spell in the game. Given her canon point is after she gains access to her second job class of Black Wizard, her skill with the high tier spells is however left to be desirable. She is once more like a novice with them and will most likely attack someone other than her target by mistake while casting.

Magic is definitely her forte. In fact, it's probably the only thing she's good at. It's no secret that in terms of health and defense that the Black Mage class is the weakest of all the job classes. They are able to wield daggers and small knives but their best weapons are staves. They can equip light and leather armor as well but little else.

Black Mages are your long distance attackers in Final Fantasy I and Lucia excels at that. When she's not accidentally setting buildings on fire while attempting Flare.

□ Personal Items:

1. Her Black Mage robes

2. Her Black Wizard robes.

3. If possible I would like for her to keep her staff. It certainly looks more like a big walking stick than an actual weapon but it is at least her height in length.

4. The Red Crystal of Fire which is in her personal possession.
